Our City - Manchester Through Children's Eyes: A Summer Art Exhibit and August 4th Reception

In the coming weeks, you will be hearing more about an art exhibit featuring artworks by Inti Academy students. It is called Our City – Manchester Through Children’s Eyes and will be held at the Currier Museum of Art on June 22, 2016 - August 25, 2016. There will be a reception at the museum from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on August 4. All are welcome!

This exhibition will be in conjunction with the Currier’s upcoming exhibition, Urban Landscapes: Manchester and the Modern American City. Both exhibitions highlight the complex nature of modern cities like Manchester by using various mediums, lenses, and styles. The professional artists and Inti artists alike have diverse experiences with city living, all of which come together in this exhibition to highlight our city’s rich cultural tapestry. The Currier brought together Inti Academy students and local photographer Becky Field for a collaborative project that provides a firsthand and unique perspective of Manchester.

The Community Gallery will showcase Becky Field’s portraits of more than one dozen of the students who are participating in the Currier Art Center/Inti outreach program. The partnership has been in place for several years and includes Inti students taking art classes at the Currier Art Center. This exhibition will include student-created art and personal essays.

Come support the kids and join us for a celebration of this collaboration as part of Currier After Hours on August 4 from 6-8 p.m.

This project was generously funded by Sheehan Phinney and the Currier's Heart of the Arts Gala Fund.
